Karin and Leo Real Engagement Story
We have been together for just over 5 years now. We already have our own house, and have been living together for 2 1/2 years. To be honest, neither of us had any burning desire to be married, until recently.
We have a great relationship – it’s almost as if we are ‘soul mates’. There are times when we can both start talking about the same thing, as if we know what the other is thinking. This year has been quite a hectic year, as Leo has been quite ill which caused a lot of stress on us both, as no one seemed to be able to diagnose what was wrong with him. After several months signed off work, periods of depression and anxiety, we pulled through it together. It’s as if we grew that much closer, by being there for each other. In November, we decided a short break to Paris would be a great idea – a chance to have some time together, to see the beautiful sights of Paris, and to just generally unwind from the stresses the previous months had brought us.
So, we went over on the Euro star and stayed in a lovely hotel, just on the outskirts of the Capital. We had a wonderful time. We had decided that on the Saturday night, we would go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, so we could see the City of Paris lit up in all it’s brilliance. Although petrified of heights, I reluctantly went to the top of the Tower. The view was breathtaking, and although we were unfortunate enough to go up to the top just as the heaven’s opened, it was wonderful. We reached the summit and before I knew it, Leo was down on one knee (getting blown all over the place, as well, I might add!) and he asked me to marry him! A couple of other tourists nearby saw what was happening, and we received a round of applause. Of course, I said yes, and after I composed myself, we made our way back down. We got absolutely soaked by the time we reached the ground, and headed as quickly as we could to the nearest restaurant, where we were greeted by the restaurant owners with a warm welcome, soaked and looking at our worst!! We had a lovely meal to end the evening, and it was a great weekend.
We have now made further plans, and our wedding date is 31st August 2001. I wanted to share this story with others, just to prove that romance is not dead, after all!
