Kathy and Rick Real Engagement Story
My boyfriend is the sweetest man in the world! I was going through a nasty divorce, and I decided to move to Dublin to persue a career in nursing. I looked up profiles in Dublin, and found Rick! This led to an eight month friendship online, and we would talk about what was going on in our lives, dating, my impending divorce, etc. After an invite from me to the States for Thanksgiving, things started from there. To make a long story short, he flew back and forth from Dublin and England no less than 15 times due to my many illnesses, and the death of my father, who, before Dad died, Rick became extremely close to. These trips were at a moment’s notice, and he took such good care of me, and was the perfect gentleman in every way. I visited him in Dublin, and me, being the extreme Anglophile, had never been to London. He treated me to a glorious weekend at the Dorchester Hotel in one of the best suites. It was Sunday, and we were scheduled to leave that day. We were sat in the piano bar, and were talking. I’ll never forget the day, it was September 24, 2000 and was a typical, gray, rainy day in London. We were sat at a table opposite from one another, and he said, "Let me move closer to you." He sat right beside me, and he said, "I love you more than I could imagine loving anyone, and I would be honoured and gobsmacked if you would become my wife!" Of course, I said yes, and he said that he felt bad that he didn’t have a ring to give me, because the moment just overtook him. It was the sweetest proposal. Good things come to those who wait, because six months later, he presented me (on bended knee) with the most gorgeous, engagement ring I have ever seen. I am proud to be his fiancee, and ecstatic to spend the rest of my life with him. He is the most wonderful bloke in the world, and I love him very much!
