When was your wedding?

4th July 2009

How and when did you meet?

We met on the internet on a friendship networking website.

 

How old are you both?

I am 23 and Steven is 29

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

Steven proposed to me on Christmas day a few years ago, we were opening our presents and I opened a box with shredded tissue paper in it, as I opened the lid and saw the ring Steven asked me to marry him.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

I had 2 hen nights, a big one with all of our family and friends, we all got dressed up in fancy dress and went on a pub crawl in Newcastle. And my second one was in Kassiopi, Corfu, with Stevens family. Steven only had one stag night, in Kassiopi, both groups had t-shirts printed.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

We decided on a lot of things together, although I did most of the planning and just asked him if he liked it!

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

I used the forums a lot, looking for different tips. I also used the shop part to look for gifts and table decorations.

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?

No, but I used the catalogue for inspiration.

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

I had an Ivory dress with pink detailing, a dimante veil and ivory shoes. I got the dress from the Wedding Studio in Blyth, Northumberland, my shoes were from New Look, and the veil was from Dainty Supplies in Washington.

Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

I had 2 young bridesmaids. One was my sisters daughter and the other was Steven’s brothers daughter. They both wore baby pink dresses with a glittery white sash, that tied in a bow at the back, which my Mam made.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

Steven chose his brother to be his best man and we didn’t have any ushers. The groom wore a light pin-striped suit, pink shirt, pink tie and pink waistcoat. The best man and father of the bride wore light-pin striped suit, white shirt, pink tie and pink waistcoat.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

We had a religious ceremony.

Where did you hold your ceremony?

Trinity Church, Ashington, Northumberland.

Where did you hold your reception?

White House Club, Ashington

Did you have any special wedding transport?

Mercedes E class, avante garde, which my Uncle was the chauffeur in.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

60ish to the daytime with another list including others for the evening

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

We had pink and white colour scheme

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

We used light pink, brighter pink, and white balloons (and weights) and table confetti.

Did you give your guests favours?

Yes. The women received a pink organza bag containing 5 sugared almonds and a small bottle of Dolce and Gabana -The One perfume, and the men received a pink organza bag containing 5 chocolate footballs and a miniature bottle of either brandy, whisky or vodka.

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

I used Flowers by Dawn, Newbiggin, Northumberland. I had a shower of white roses and stargazer lilies. And the bridesmaids had posies of white roses with diamantes in the centre.

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

We used an outside caterer and had a hog roast with all the trimmings, followed by fruit platters and cream cakes.

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

A close family friend made the cake, it was 3-tiers, iced in white icing with different sized pink icing hearts on it.

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

In the evening we had a Dj who played a wide range of songs.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

No we did not make a gift list.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We went on holiday before the wedding and spent or first night, home alone.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

Walking up the aisle and seeing Steven waiting at the end, then saying our vows together.

Did you experience any “nightmare” moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

Everything went absolutely brilliantly.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

I wouldn’t change anything at all!!! Advice – stick to your guns and do things how you and your groom would like it, after all it is YOUR special day.
