Kellie and Kelvin’s Real Life Wedding
Kellie and Kelvin
02/06/2005 – St Anthony’s RC Church
Marriott Hotel in Liverpool city centre
How and when did you meet?
We met when we were 11, at school, but didn’t get together until we were both 22.
How old are you both?
25.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
He proposed after 1 year, after we’d moved in together. We went for a beautiful meal and then argued about whether he would ask me or not!
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
I had two hen nights: the first was a scream – we went all round Liverpool city centre in a fire engine dressed up as nurses! This is after my cousin had made some really rough cocktails at her house, and then we finished off in a strip club. The second hen night was for all the family, and was in a Greek restaurant, where they made the hens get up and do some belly dancing.
Did your groom help you with the wedding planning?
He just said, ‘Yes,’ a lot.
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
We used a number of different sources for ideas, most of which I already had in mind.
Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
I bought the votive candle holders and cameras online.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
I bought a Mori Lee gown; it was the first dress I tried on and nothing would change my mind.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had 5 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls: my two sisters, the groom’s sister, my cousin and my best friend. I had my friend’s two little girls as flower girls, they wore just below the knee ice blue dresses.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
They wore tails, including our fathers.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We had a religious ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
St Anthony’s RC Church.
Where did you hold your reception?
Marriott Hotel in Liverpool city centre.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had beautiful vintage Limos for the bridesmaids and ushers and a vintage 2-seater for us.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We had 85 in the day and no holds barred in the night.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
All white.
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
We had 4-inch vases holding white roses in the middle of every table, with white rose petals scattered.
Did you give your guests favours?
We gave every guest a lottery ticket.
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
Tamzyn Angela Designs, all white roses for everyone.
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
We had a three-tier cake, which was mixed and matched from a few different cakes that I had seen.
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We had a piano player playing throughout the sit-down meal, we just added the right amount of atmosphere.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We stayed for two nights in the penthouse suite at the Marriott Hotel, and then went straight on our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
All of it was absolutely perfect.
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
Enjoy every second, it’s over too quickly.
