How old were you both when you got engaged?

Matt was 22 and I was 18

How did your partner (or you) propose?

I had known for a while as we had talked about it and had bought the ring, I just didnt know when. We were on the way to a youth weekend from Kent to Birmingham and we were late! And it was snowing heavily… so as you can imagine, I was a little bit stressed! And when we got near Dudley, we got lost! We spent about an hour driving around trying to find the venue and had missed the first meeting of the weekend, so I was getting a little bit snappy (which I now feel rather stupid about hehe). When we got out of the car, it was cold and there was about 7 or 8 inches of snow in the carpark. I went to grab some stuff out of the car, and Matt stopped me and pulled me to the side and went to go down on one knee and I shouted “Noooo! Your knees will get all wet and cold!!!!” and so he laughed and held my face in his hands and asked me to be his wife! Needless to say I screamed “Yes! Yes! Yes!” and squeezed him so tight he almost snapped in two!

Who did you share the news of your engagement with first?

My parents and his both knew we were getting engaged. When we came home on the Sunday night, Matt’s nan was visiting his parents, and so she was the first to find out after he had proposed.

Describe your ring.

The ring is 18 carat white gold with 2 princess cut diamonds… 🙂

Did you help choose the ring?

I did, yes, and I knew as soon as I put it on in the shop that it was “the one”

Did you have an engagement party?

No, as my family are all in Scotland and we are in South East Kent.

When do you plan to marry?

We are getting married on 16th August 2008

What are you looking forward to the most about planning a wedding?

Getting to see all my bridesmaids in their dresses!!
