Lisa & David’s Real Life St Peter & All Souls Roman Catholic Church Wedding
When was your wedding?
2nd June 2007
How and when did you meet?
We met in April 1997, at the time I was at sixth form college and David was my postman, we met on my front doorstep, he was delivering the post and asked me out on a date.
How old are you both?
I’m 28 David is 33
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
We took a few months off from work to go travelling, we had talked about getting engaged as we had been together for 7 years already, however when David proposed it was very surprising as we had only spoken about it briefly, he had booked a beautiful restaurant in a town called Ballina in Australia, the restaurant was lit by candlelight and this is when he proposed, he had been in the restaurant earlier that today to arrange a lovely bottle of champagne, which we took back to our campervan. The lady at the campsite decorated our campervan the next day with posters and balloons….we had lots of people congratulate us, it was a moment I will never forget.
Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?
I went to Butlins in Skegness with the girls for an adult only weekend and David went to Spain for 5 days with the lads. The Butlins theme was Skool reunion/80’s, The girls surprised me one night by wearing t-shirts with a photo of me on from when I was 5, very funny….and embarrassing.

Our cake was made by a friend of the family, my husband chose the design of the cake, it was a three tiered cake (all seperate teirs) with flowers which matched my bouquets.

Seeing David for the first time when I walked down the aisle and leaving the church when we both looked at each other and at the same time said “we’re married”.
Did you experience any “nightmare” moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
Non at all, we were very well organised, however the week before the wedding it chucked it down with rain, people kept asking me if they should bring umbrella’s, and other people were saying it’s going to get wetter by the end of the week, little comments I wished people would have kept to themselves as it was very upsetting, however our wedding day turned out to be very hot and sunny, in fact it was the hotest day in June!
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
Enjoy every single moment, it goes by so quickly.
