Lynsey and Lee Real Engagement Story
Lee and I usually celebrate our anniversaries by going out to restaurants, the theatre or even by going away for the weekend. However, for our seventh anniversary, we decided a nice home cooked meal would be more appropriate, as we had moved into our first home only six months beforehand.
That morning Lee asked me to drop him off in Cambridge rather than our local train station. I knew he was up to something but as it was our anniversary I thought he was off to buy me flowers as he does every year.
After work I rushed home to get dinner started and set the table while Lee got changed. We sat down at the table and ate and chatted just like any other night. We were still at the table when I gave Lee his card. He opened, it read it and quickly put it down. I got a bit concerned because it had taken me a long time to pick that card.
He then looked at me and said: "I normally buy you roses but I forgot them this year and I left your card at work." This can’t get much worse, I thought.
Then Lee stood up, put his hand in his pocket and said: "I hope this will make up for it." He went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He pulled out the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen. I immediately said yes. Of course, he was now forgiven for the flowers and card.
For seven years I had imagined how he would propose and sometimes I wondered if he ever would. This was the most perfect way to do it.
