Pamela and Stephen
November 2004
Q: How did you meet?
A: Stephen and I met on the Internet in April 1999,through AOL. Not in a chat room, but through the members’ profiles. We chatted online for a period of time, before deciding to meet up.
Q: Describe the marriage proposal.
A: We both went out for a lovely candlelit dinner for two, to a lovely Italian restaurant. Steve felt nervous about proposing in front of everyone, so we went back home, put some soft music on, had a glass of wine and he went down on one knee and popped the question.
Q: How long did you spend preparing for the day and how was it?
A: We got engaged in Aug 2001,and spent the whole year planning the wedding from start to finish. On the day it was fantastic. The day itself went very quickly indeed. I had a lovely time, and loved being centre of attention for the day.
Q: What type of wedding ceremony did you have and where?
A: We had a civil ceremony, at the Donington Manor Hotel, Castle Donington Derby.
Q: Where did you hold the reception and what was it like?
A: We held our reception at the same place. The place was fantastic, and the service was fantastic, the director of the hotel, a Mr. James Blick was master of ceremonies, and I could not ask for a better day.
Q: Is there anything you’d like to change, with hindsight?
A: nothing
Q: What advice would you give to couples currently planning their wedding?
A: If you are concerned about your budget, get married out of season like we did Oct. We saved a lot of money and still had a great day.
We had everything under one roof and all the guests did not have to move from one place to another. We went to several wedding exhibitions and got some great deals, worth just going to have a look around.
Q: Is there any other detail that you would like to share?
A: Any one who is getting married in the East Midlands and is looking for either somewhere to have their wedding or just their reception, or both, I would extremely highly recommend the Donington Manor Hotel at Castle Donington Derby. First class service.
Relax and enjoy your day.
