How and when did you meet?
We worked for the same company. I already had a boyfriend but my colleagues kept saying they thought we would get on even though I wasn’t interested in him!
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
He proposed in the bath! It was Valentine’s Day 2002 in a quaint little hotel in Hampshire.
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
Yes! Scott’s stag do was in Stringfellows, London and my hen do was at Madame Jojo’s in Soho.
Did your groom help you with the wedding planning?
Scott listened while I ranted! He sorted out his own outfit, helped with table plan and took over any problems I ran into that I was too stressed to deal with.
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
I did initially use the confetti website but as the wedding was in Prague it wasn’t always convenient or relevant.
Do you have a confetti web page?
Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
I visited the store on numerous occasions, went to lots of store events.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
Gorgeous, white, spaghetti straps, a-line, no train and with lots of sparkle.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
My bridesmaid was my eight year old niece. She wore a similar dress to mine with burgundy roses on the straps to go with the burgundy and ivory/white theme
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Scott’s best man was a childhood friend of over 30 years who wore a dark suit with a burgundy and ivory tie I had bought. My brother (who gave me away) also wore the same tie.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We had a civil ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
The Old Town Hall, Prague, Czech Republic.
Where did you hold your reception?
Zofin Palace, Prague.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We had 30 guests to the entire wedding – there was no separate evening party as it was in Prague.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
The theme was Bohemian and colours were burgundy and white/ivory.
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
The tables had names like ‘Bohemia’, ‘Wenceslas’, ‘Vltava’ – all names associated with Prague.
Did you give your guests favours?
Yes, each person was given a lottery ticket in an envelope inscribed with the words ‘I should be so lucky…’
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
The flowers were a bargain from ebay! They were silk flowers in white and burgundy including a garland for the cake.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
The reception was in a restaurant and they handled all the catering. We had Baroque lobster cocktail with toast, Bohemian Rhapsody potato soup with devils boletus, gothic herbed lamb chops, Rococo English style beef filet with mushroom sauce, peeled Transalvanian tomatoes & potato rissoles. And for pudding…chestnut crème brulée with fresh renaissance strawberries.
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
Our wedding cake was a light sponge with fresh cream, filled with fresh fruit.
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
Yes, we had a DJ and provided a playlist of songs including songs for cutting of the cake.
Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
No – as our guests were coming to Prague we thought that was expense enough for them! We still got lots of vouchers though!
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We spent our first night in Prague and our honeymoon in Thailand.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Walking out of the Old Town Hall as man and wife. The sun was shining and there were loads of people in Prague town square all taking pictures of us when they realised there was a wedding.
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
Ask the photographer to do a few ‘fun’, reportage style photos – formal shots of family look too rigid in a straight line. My advice on the day would be to delegate as much as possible so you can relax and look around at everything – also to stand up straight for the photos!
