Old Testament readings from the Bible for your wedding

Choosing the right wedding reading for your big day really is easy – just follow our guide.

If you have chosen to have a religious wedding ceremony, you will no doubt know that the Old Testament refers to the collection of books that form the first of the two‐part Christian Bible and were written prior to the life of Jesus.

Whether you regularly go to church or heard bits from the Bible at school, you’ll be surprised how many readings from the Old Testament you recognize, because they are often well known and are a popular choice for many church wedding ceremonies.

Finding a Bible reading is easy once you know how. All you have to do is look them up by book, chapter and verse (for example Genesis.1,16 would refer to the book of Genesis, chapter 1, verse 16).

So which Old Testament reading should you choose for your own big day? Here’s a selection of our favourites to give you inspiration…
